Creating Polls
Polls are a great way to quickly “check in” with your class and get immediate feedback. You can assign Polls to groups or communities. Polls are anonymous and users taking the Poll can only select one of the choice options in the Poll.
Create and Sending a Poll
Polls are a great way to get immediate feedback on an Assignment, reading, or current event. They can be used to activate background knowledge for students. They are easy to create and administer:
- Click on the "Poll" tab in the "top toolbar."
- Click in the Question field and type your question.
- Type in answer choices in the fields for Answer #1 and Answer #2.
- Click "Add Answer" if you would like to add more answer choices.
- Click in the "Send to" field and choose a Group, student, or teacher to send the Poll to.
- Click on the "Schedule" icon below the "Send to" field to send it out in the future. If you don't click "Schedule", it will be sent out immediately.
- When finished, click the "Send" button.
Viewing Poll Results
Once your students have taken your Poll, you'll want to view and analyze those results:
- Click on the "Filter Posts By" link in the top right of your communication stream and select "Polls."
- Scroll through to find the Poll you are looking for.
- You will see a bar graph of results which will tell you how many students chose each answer.
- Below the graph, you will see how many total students voted, so you can see overall participation.
- Click the "Refresh" link next to "Total votes" to keep up with the Poll results in real time.
- Click "Reply" to send a Note to your students about the Poll and its results.
